Tamper-Evident Seals for Food & Beverage Packaging

Food and beverage packaging isn't held to the same tamper-evident mandate as OTC drugs or cosmetics — but a tamper-evident seal is still one of the simplest ways to show a customer their order wasn't opened in transit, and it's required outright in some cases.

General information, not legal advice — confirm current requirements with your state or local health department.

Food Tamper Seals

Intertronix's Food Tamper Seals are narrow tear-strip labels built to close bags, containers, and lids so any opening is immediately visible — torn or broken the moment someone tries to get in. They're a stock item, no artwork approval needed, and ship in bulk quantities for restaurants, delivery kitchens, caterers, and food producers.

Why they matter

FDA requires tamper-evident packaging by regulation for OTC drugs and cosmetics; general packaged food doesn't carry that same federal mandate, though tamper-evident sealing is recognized as good practice under FDA's food defense guidance. California goes further: AB-3336 requires restaurants to seal ready-to-eat food with a tamper-evident method before handing it to a third-party delivery driver, effective since 2021.
