Asset ID Labels

Why it matters

Government entities, including school districts, generally follow accounting standards (GASB Statement No. 34) that require them to track and report the value of equipment and other capital assets on their books. Healthcare organizations have their own rule: HIPAA's Security Rule (45 CFR 164.310(d)) requires tracking hardware and electronic media that could hold patient information, including a record of who's responsible for each device. In both cases, an accurate inventory starts with being able to identify each piece of equipment — which is exactly what an asset tag is for.
